Angel Elvira drew the designs from the traditions of the Basque people, who inhabit the western pyrenees on the Bay of Biscay.

The figures in the deck are dressed in traditional Basque costume. The colors red, yellow, green and turquoise predominate.Titles on the cards are in Basque, Spanish and English. The deck has two extra title cards, which show a hand between two birds, with four faces below representing the four elements. The Minors are plain pips. The deck came in a lidded cardboard box with a lwb.

Notes:  
The Tarot de Euskalherria (Basque Country Tarot) was commissioned by publisher Fournier to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Fournier Museum of Cards. Under the direction of Marixtu Erlanz de Güler, artist Alfredo Fermin Cemillan painted the deck.

The Major Arcana retain the traditional names with the exception of the Hierophant, who is the High Priest. The Majors have the names written on the bottoms in Spanish, Basque and English. Death is unnamed and the Fool is unnumbered. The Majors also have astrological symbols, but they do not correspond to the Golden Dawn assignments. The Court Cards do not have names written on them. The suits are, according to lwb,  Cups, Swords, Pentacles and Rods, and the courts King, Queen, Knight and Jack. The Minor Arcana pips include flora of the Basque region and plants reputed to have magical properties, including mandragora and belladonna.

The art is watercolor. The deck includes two presentation cards and came with a  lwb, which  provides information in Spanish, English, French and German.

Notes:
This deck is based upon a Liguria-Piemontese Italian deck by Giuseppe Ottone, which was  first printed from the original wood blocks 1736 in Serravalle Sesia, Italy. The original deck is now located in the Museo Fournier, Vitoria, Spain.

On the 5 of Swords is a Spanish tax print, which was used between 1964 and 1979. The devil has an extra face on his stomach and eyes at his knees.

 The titles of the major arcana cards are given in both English and Spanish. The court card names are given in Spanish only. The Spanish names for the suits are: Bastos, Copas, Espadas and Oros. Bastos are curved and Espadas are straight. A small roman numeral at the bottom of each numbered suit card shows its number and orientation.

 The back design reproduces the back of the originalpack of 1736.

 This deck is available as the Spanish Tarot (Fournier version) and the Spanish-English Tarot (U. S. Games version).

Notes:
Cruel Thing is an illustrated novel popular in Spain and Latin America that also has become a hit in other European countries and increasingly in the U.S. as well. Comic book artist Luciano Vecchio combines anime and gothic influences. The Majors are characters and imagery from the comic series.

Like the comic series it is drawn with a strict three colour palette of black, white and red. It has titles in four different languages, the cards usually called page or knave are here, in their English translation, called Jacks, as used in playing card terminology. The knights are all male and the Jacks female apart from the suit of Wands in which the genders of these two cards are reversed. The pip cards are not illustrated.

El Gran Tarot Esoterico was designed by Luis Pena Longa under the direction of Maritxu Guler. Each Major  Arcana has a Hebrew letter and its cabbalistic number, some of the cards bear signs of the zodiac. The court cards also have  a Hebrew letter.

The card titles are in Spanish, the LWB is English and Spanish. Suits are Bastos, Oros, Copas, Espadas and the Court Cards are Sota, Caballo, Rey, Reina. Death is numbered but has no title, the Fool has a title but no number.


It is basically a Marseilles deck, but on the Justice card is a picture of King Salomon and some of the Majors are renamed:
